In each of our rooms you will find a display related to the children’s goals. At our annual Coffee Night information evenings, parents share their goals for their child so that Educators can work with them towards the same goals!
Children are always involved in physical activity and explorations in the natural environment, engaging with different resources such as the sand pit, developing gross motor skills through obstacles, using the equipment for dramatic play or retreating for quiet time and reading.
The expansive area and variety of resources offers the opportunity for children to learn in their own ways, through hands-on and verbal activities.
Our Jungle Room is an enchanted indoor/outdoor space with learning areas, a construction zone, physical activities, reading and more! This is one of the most favourite spaces for our Wombats to enjoy their explorations.
We also use this space for group times, project work and researching topics they are doing. Group times welcome the most interesting discussions with the children, where it can often lead to new investigations and themes that the children are interested in exploring!
The Construction Zone encourages Mathematical and Scientific Thinking when constructing and counting blocks as well as experimenting with construction. Here you see the children’s imaginations run wild as they construct houses, towns, bridges, castles and more! Of course, with their hardhats and high vis vests on!
Here is where we have Calendar Time, every day! Calendar Time takes place of a morning, where our Wombats gather to look at the Kindalin calendar for the month, discuss days/weeks and the day’s weather as well as celebrate children’s birthdays, talk about upcoming events, receive the delivery from the Kindalin Postie (see Kindalin Post Box in Foyer) and of course sing lots of songs with a range of cultural music and movement!
Children understand the world through investigation and experience. Project-based learning allows children to explore all of the Kindalin 5 Key Learning Areas through a topic they are interested in, where they can research, explore, represent their learning through artworks and so much more. A project can last a few weeks or a few months!
During free play, Wombats are free to explore the manipulative activity area with small resources for counting, matching and sorting. They may choose to write letters to their family or friends (using led pencils), create ANY artwork they may imagine using the many different mediums, engage in mathematical activities set up and much more! These areas are also great for their fine motor development.
Welcome to our Wonderful Wombats Level! Our upstairs space provides a large room with three separate spaces dedicated to our preschool-aged children, 4-5 years old, including indoor learning spaces, an indoor/outdoor jungle room and a natural outdoor area that makes you feel as though you are a part of a forest. All have individual spaces for quiet play, active explorations and small group work.
Similar to our other rooms, here children can explore their identities and their own worlds through role play; dressing in outfits and taking on roles such as mum and dad. They may go shopping, set up the dinner table or even be an Educator at school, it is all up to their imagination!
Dramatic play allows them to learn social skills and develop their own understandings of their world and their identity.
Our Wonderful Wombats begin their transition to school with the Kindalin Preschool Program, through active exploration and interactive learning experiences children are provided with the skills for primary school! Our main focus is for them to be socially and emotionally ready for school, implemented through the curriculum plan.
Each year, we hold a very special graduation for our Wombats heading to primary school, where we celebrate all of their growing and learning as well as show mum and dad their independence and confidence as we perform our favourite songs.
Reading is an integral part of our growing and learning from Possums, right through to our Wombats! Here we have a free reading area available for Emus, in a quiet area, for them to go and recharge by reading a book quietly or with their friends.
All of our meals are cooked in house by our Kindalin Cook! It is always a treat to smell the aromas of lunch in the corridors when you know lunchtime is around the corner. Our kitchen has a half wall for our Cook to interact and educate children about cooking and mealtimes.
Welcome to our Eager Emus Room! Our Emus are our children ages 2 – 3 years old. As we do in all of our rooms, this Emus room is set up to provide children with a variety of learning spaces for indoor and outdoor play. Learning spaces are always adapted according to children’s interests and family input.
We also incorporate a writing centre and exploratory sensory program to extend on their inquisitiveness!

Our heart and soul is a tightly-knit community of 180 passionate Educators across eight centres within the Hills District and Frenchs Forest, who share their insights, friendship and trust. We are deeply embedded within our local communities and collaborate with specialists in the field of early childhood, who share our vision of excellence.
Kindalin Frenchs Forest spreads generously across two levels with indoor and outdoor areas, providing children with a modern, yet natural space to explore and grow. Our Exclusive Preschool Program starts from an early age and continues right up till the transition to kindergarten.
Inside the centre, we have four bright and airy rooms that focus on children of different age groups. Downstairs provides three rooms, for three age groups, each equipped with the tools and resources to spark imaginations; a writing centre, a home corner, a construction centre, and quiet areas for stories and reading are just a few. The upstairs space provides a large room with three separate spaces dedicated to our Preschool-aged children (Wonderful Wombats group) including indoor learning spaces, an indoor/outdoor jungle room and a natural outdoor area that makes you feel as though you are a part of a forest. All have individual spaces for quiet play, active explorations and small group work.
Our dedicated team of long term staff provide a family feel environment. Their knowledge and experience highlight their passion for children development, growth and school readiness. Local to the Frenchs Forest area, our staff are community involved and are dedicated and enthusiastic about working at the Frenchs Forest Centre.

This room in particular is used for project work, group times and researching topics they are doing through books, games and scientific/mathematical experiences!

Mealtimes are an integral part of our daily routine, as it allows children to to teach self -help skills as children serve themselves and practice table manners. It is a great opportunity to discuss nutrition, but is also a social time with the children, where they tell us about their weekends, build friendships and welcome new discussions!
This is our Cuddly Koalas Room, with children 3-4 years old. In this room, you can see there are many smaller objects, manipulative resources and activities to suit the children’s age and development. Small objects and manipulative resources can include natural resources such as rocks and shells or objects that can be used for counting, sorting and art activities.
Compared to the Emus Room, pencils and crayons are always out and available for children as they have now learnt to put things back after themselves.
Our Writing Centre is prepped with all the resources for children to lead their own learning, drawing and interpreting topics they have been discussing either at Kindalin or at home! Koalas recognise their names at this stage and are often wanting to practice writing it as well. Some of the most amazing drawings come from free play at the Writing Centre.

You may notice we have a dedicated ‘Home Corner’ in each of our rooms. This learning space opens a world of scenarios for the children and allows them to let their imaginations run wild! Dramatic play allows children to share their understandings of their world, engage in conversations that develop literacy, develop social skills during play and so much more. A range of costumes and props are always available and the theme is always directed by the child!
We have a 20 week alternative menu, well equipped with allergies, nutritional, dietary requirements! In 2019, Nutrition and Wellbeing Clinic’s Dietitian Fiona Kupresanin worked on assessing and improving our menu in response to feedback from our Parent Survey. Our revamped menu introduced a specialised meal plan with a number of healthier, tastier ingredients and meals for all of our Kindalin Centres!
The daily menu is shared on the Kindalin App each morning.
We are so lucky to have a range of Preschool Practitioners who visit our centres on a regular basis, who contribute to the curriculum and learning for the children! This includes the Music Man, Soccer Pat, Art with Maree, GrowFit and Mess It Up.
Our calendar year also includes a number family events and opportunities for families to be involved and provide feedback that influences the upcoming themes and activities.
This is our Kindalin Post Box! We invite families to post letters and photos to their children in the postbox, which are then picked up and delivered to the children by the ‘Kindalin Postie’ at Calendar Time each day. This is a great way to build a connection between Kindalin and home, support children’s literacy understanding as well as introduce new topics for discussion!
Here you can see our Family Holiday Wall on display. Each year, families share images and information on their Christmas holidays to share in the room. Family partnerships are an important part of our Kindalin philosophy, as we believe strong connections with home and Kindalin provide the best learning environment for the children.
The Holiday Wall provides children with something familiar in the room, welcomes new topics of discussion and fosters a connection with families which continues throughout the year.

The Centre Director is there to facilitate and maintain strong and special relationships between Kindalin families, staff and children. Her office is located close by your sign-in area and she is available for you to meet with or chat via email or phone for any questions or needs!
Welcome to our Koalas Yard! Different activities are set up daily, based on the curriculum plan that the Room Coordinators have written. The curriculum is an extension of the children’s development and interests, which includes family input and extending on the goals of each individual child. We ensure to change up obstacles and gross motor courses to keep it exciting and provide new challenges!
Children are provided with a range of mediums and resources to engage in free art throughout the day. Some of their most outstanding and creative masterpieces come from free art, where it is left to the child’s interpretations and imaginations to create their work.
This is a community library available for children to take books home, connecting Kindalin and home as well as promoting literacy in everyday life!
Each of our yards have a veggie and herb garden for the children to care for! They learn about the growing process, take responsibility in caring and watering the plants and get to eat the results as our cook uses whatever the children grow. It is a great way to teach the children about sustainability and leads to great conversations during mealtimes.
Upon arrival drop-off and pick-up, our families sign in their children on our iPads, where they use a unique pin code. Each parent/guardian has their own separate pin code, so that we have an exact record who is picking up and dropping off! This also records data for the government Child Care Subsidy.
Every child has their own portfolio that is worked on throughout the year. It documents your child’s learning journey at Kindalin and includes their artworks, photos of their learning and achievements, project work, family contribution from throughout the year and the observations written by your child’s Educator about their growing and learning. They are kept in the hallway, available for families to check out whenever they like and is something special to take home at the end of the year!

Educator profiles always on display in our hallway as well as available on our Kindalin app. This way our families can be aware of who is looking after their children, learn a bit about them and build a stronger relationship.
In this room, we begin to introduce additional activities and routines into
the children’s day, such as toilet training and progressive morning tea. Toilet training is encouraged by the Educators, who work with families and assist from Kindalin to home. Progressive morning tea allows children to gain independence by deciding to eat when they are hungry whilst playing, with the guidance of their Educators!
Lockers are also introduced, where children are encouraged to find their name tag and place it on a locker for the day to keep their belongings. This helps with name recognition, sense of belonging, self-help skills and feeling safe and secure!
Here is our rest time room, where we provide an opportunity for relaxing rest time for the children, based on their own needs for rest. This may depend on age and home routines, meaning Possums may have additional rest times in the morning as well as time to rest in the afternoon. Family communication is crucial to achieving the best environment for your child. At Kindalin, we communicate with our families via face-to-face chats with your child’s Educators, emails, our Kindalin App and notices in our Foyer – including this Kindalin Calendar! You will find all upcoming events on this calendar in the foyer each month, as well as receive reminders via your app and emails.
The Kindalin App keeps you in touch with your child’s day - their upcoming events and notices, room adventures, photos of the action, their eating log, bi-monthly observations of your child specifically and communication with the Director!
We have an underground carpark with reserved spaces for all of our Kindalin families to drop off and pick up their children in their own time and away from all types of weather. The Kindalin carpark area is only steps away from the easy access ramp to our front foyer and lift up to our Wonderful Wombats Level!
Welcome to the Possums Yard! The Yard is always set up with a range of interactive activities children can choose to engage with. Throughout the day, Educators provide children the opportunity for free play, where they can go inside and out in their own leisure and engage in activities which interest them. Activities can take place in small groups or others may prefer independent play.
This kind of interest-based play often leads to spontaneous group time activities and new questions/topics that can begin new projects and child-led learning!
All nappies, wipes and creams are provided at Kindalin Frenchs Forest. We also record nappy changes on the app for you to be aware of!

The yard is always prepared with fun and challenging obstacles and sports to help develop children’s gross motor skills. We ensure to change it up to keep it exciting and provide new challenges!
Our large sandpit is a favourite outdoor space for our Wombats, surrounded by greenery and the natural landscapes around our centre, it is a perfect place for children to explore, experiment and play.
Our creek and water pump is the centre of our outdoor water play! Children absolutely love working the pump and carrying their buckets of water to create their mud pies and potions next to the sandpit.
Welcome to the Possums Room! Our entire Possums space consists of our large room with multiple activity areas as well as a beautiful outdoor area, where we accommodate to 20 children, 0 – 2 years, in the care of 5 Educators. Throughout our Centre, you will find that activity areas and learning spaces are set up based on the children’s interests as well as their age. This room is particularly set up with low furniture for those babies learning to walk, so they can easily pull themselves up, as well as soft cuddly resources and sensory items for the younger babies.
