We have developed initiatives to strengthen the connection and continuity between home and Kindalin.

To support the link between Kindalin and families, we offer a variety of mediums for families to stay connected with their child’s Kindalin experience. Some of these include our comprehensive and regular newsletters, weekly photoblasts delivered to your email, Facebook, The Kindalin Post Box and our annual Kindalin Reading Challenge.
We are always looking for new ways to strengthen the connection between home and Kindalin and would love to have your feedback or ideas.
Below is a small sample of our family and Kindalin initiatives.
Post Box

Post Box

We work hard to ensure a meaningful connection between the children, their family life, and Kindalin. To enrich this connection, we’ve introduced the Kindalin Post Box. It’s a fantastic and fun way for families to participate in their children’s day, and it serves to foster the children’s emerging literacy and communication skills.

Facebook, Newsletters and Photoblasts

Facebook, Newsletters and Photoblasts

We send many different newsletters (both in printed form and via email), detailing the curriculum and general events and happenings within the centres, and to keep you informed about staff changes, trips and events. Each newsletter helps to connect our families with their child’s time at Kindalin.

And every week we send our parents Photoblasts via email! Our very own photographic journal of all that's been happening in your child's room at Kindalin.

Further, we are avid Facebookers. Our page is a hive of visual activity and reminders about what's going on. We'd love you to join us!

The Kindalin Reading Challenge

The Kindalin Reading Challenge

Guided and shared reading experiences are proven to support the development of early reading skills. The Reading challenge is therefore an integral part of the Kindalin Preschool Program, and also functions as a key method of furthering the connection between home and Kindalin. Children in the Wombat group and their families can select their own books, or pick from our author studies and regular. Each month children are asked to bring their Reading Log into Kindalin, and at the end of the challenge, the children are awarded with a certificate and a book for participating.

Room Mascots

Room Mascots

Room Mascots are a fun way for families to participate in the Kindalin Curriculum. The children take turns at bringing the Mascot home for the weekend and/or on family vacations. We enjoy as a group seeing photos of our little friend in new and exciting places. This supports children’s language skills as they describe their adventures.

All About Me / Holiday pages

All About Me / Holiday pages

Every child at Kindalin is invited to submit an 'All About Me' page. It's a small poster featuring every child's photos and a small description of their favourite things. We use them as a talking point to share and introduce each other to the class. They hang in the room's walls for all to see.

Equally as exciting are the 'Holiday pages' where parents are invited to submit a photographic story about their travels on vacation time.

Photo Albums

Photo Albums

Photo Albums help our youngest children feel connected to their families when at Kindalin. Filled with photos to share and talk about their families they feel so proud of.
